On 03/26, Symbiotic’s CTO, Kevin Nejad, was invited to participate in a discussion at the United Kingdom’s House of Lords. The focus of this meeting was to examine the draft of the Artificial Intelligence Regulation Bill, a piece of legislation that aims to establish a comprehensive framework for the safe and ethical development and deployment of AI systems. The roundtable also discussed the critical importance of addressing the potential misuse of AI systems and the far-reaching impact on democratic processes.
Our work uniquely positions us to contribute with valuable insights and recommendations to the ongoing debate. In particular, of the key topics of discussion revolved around the commonly cited dangers of deepfakes as well as the societal implications of human-AI interactions. At Symbiotic, we recognize that the relationship between humans and AIs is complex and multifaceted. Our research and development efforts also contemplate the nuances of these interactions, ensuring that AI systems augment and empower human capabilities while prioritizing ethical considerations.
Participating in this collaborative dialogue at the House of Lords underscores the growing recognition of the need for a collective effort to align AI’s capabilities with human preferences. We look forward to further strengthening our presence in the UK and continuing our engagement with key stakeholders to drive the responsible advancement of AI for a better future.
